How we research

  • Fees come from official state fee schedules and providers' public pricing pages, cross-checked with independent trackers.
  • Each page shows the date of its last review. We re-check prices and rules at least every quarter and after major IRS or state changes.
  • We only describe hands-on use of a service when we have actually used it, and we say so explicitly.
  • Affiliate commissions never change our rankings. How we make money.
